The Winchester Mystery House

The Winchester Mystery House in San Jose was built by Sarah Winchester, the widow of the Winchester rifle fortune. Construction continued nonstop for 36 years, creating a maze of staircases to nowhere and doors that open into walls. Legend says she built it to confuse the spirits of those killed by Winchester rifles. 👻

A visit to @winchestermysteryhouse when I was a kid may have started my love of all things strange and unusual. I was enamored and frightened by the doors that opened to walls and the staircase to nowhere. To this day, it’s still one of my fave spooky spots to visit. Have you been?
